5.4 or Supercharged 4.6 ?
Crash1: Sound good I might make it there. Have have a brother that lives in SA so that would not be a problem.
Bigred: I have had the supercharger for six months. It adds a little to the bottom end and starts to pull real hard at 3000 rpm. I could not beat the price of the Powerdyne at $1900 as compared to the Magnachargers $3500
dollar price tag. For the power and price the Powerdyne kit could not be beat. Ford SVO
put there trust in Powerdyne to make a good supercharger that will not trash a stock engin and so did I.

Boom,
Do you pull 5800lbs now?
Gorp,
You pointed out exactly what I am trying to get across. Centrifugal (Powerdyne, Vortech) vs. Positive Displacement (Eaton, Kenne Bell).
Positive Displacement:
Magnacharger (Eaton compressor)
No spool up. Instant boost. Loads of torque on the bottom end, max boost by 1800 RPM. Max power at 5000 RPM.
Centrifugal:
1-2 +PSI at 3000RPM. Bigger numbers as RPM increases.
If cost is a factor, I understand.
However,it is worth it to me to save a little longer, and be happier in the end.
Drop a line for details.
Derek

My supercharger holds up fine pulling my 5800lbs boat. The supercharger combined with the headers provide me with all the low end
torque I need. When I talked to Allen Engineering on the Magnacharger thay seemed
to be concerned with the constant boost at low RPM's pulling my heavy boat. That and other factors made me choose the Powerdyne. Just look at all the internal parts thay had to put in a Lighting to handle nine pounds of boost with a eaton supercharger. Sorry but I will not take that chance.
Not trying to start a argument. It is just better to be better informed about supercharging a stock motor before taking the
plunge.
A motor is a terrible thin to waste....

Hey Gorp thanks for the reply, did you buy the Ford SVO kit and how did your install go. I have to agree with ya the roots is just too much boost all the time especially under a load like yours.
Thanks for the info !

Crash 1
I am not pulling a trailer now,but I am going to retire in 18 month's and planning on buying F/W with the dry weight at 5800 lb.
I like the F150 so I don't want to trade up to the F250 diesel.

You really get around, Flatsman! Have a great time!
I know what you mean. I was thinking...OF ALL THE SITES TO SELL OUT!!!! That's hard...Just think of it: Texas Chapter Trucks and Tramps!!! It was bad enough the site was down the night (morning) before.
I am assuming everyone here is considering a supercharger because they want more power (I just think they sound cool). Now, when I think of more power and spending this much, I want as much reliable POWER as possible. And I don't want to WAIT for it. I don't even want to use those words in the same sentence.
In towing 5800 lb, the roots type will provide a power band better suited to your needs. The integral bypass should eliminate your concerns regarding boost.

Flatsman,
What do you make of all this? Are you wanting to get blown?
What about everyone else? Is there anyone else serious about power?
