Post best engine flush?

I now have 30,000 miles on my BEAUTIFUL NEW TRUCK!!! I've put 3500 miles on it since I got in in August.

At that time I changed the oil and put mobil 1 5w30 in with a FL-820s filter.

I've noticed the oil getting pretty dirty quickly...plus using more than I thought it would. Today after 3500 miles on the mobil 1 I added a half-quart to it.

Serching the archives here, it looks like the increased detergency of the synthetic is slowly cleaining the sludge and crap from the motor. And that crap is why it appears to be using more oil than I expected. I have no leaks and nothing comming out of the tailpipe.

So, should I change the oil and flush it first?? what is the best flush to use?? I've used risoline but not in awhile and not on the this truck.

Engine flush is engine flush(I think)--they're all some solvent--kerosene(?). Risoline(not spelled correctly?) is an 'additive' not a 'flush'.

I've been 'flushing' my older xlt, 4.6(125,000) since I bot it used 2 yrs. ago and then fill it with Mobil 1.

Karl?

Don't use that crap.

You do not need to "flush" your engine. Just continue on with you normal, recommended oil & filter changes at the recommended viscosity.

Your oil turning dark quickly with the miles you put on it does not mean it's not doing its job. It's normal. Your truck is new and I see no problem.

1/2 quart for 3500 miles is normal.

I'd have to agree with Dunbarton. Don't worry about flushing the engine. The oil will do it for you. That's why your first several oil changes after switching to synthetic, the oil will be darker, faster.

Don't dump anything but oil in the engine... No flush, Slick-****ty or anything else... You'll just ask for trouble. If you're going to synthetic, which is a good thing to do, just do it during a normal oil change.
