Well, oh nevermind. I got a little carried away in the other post so if you want to see my ramblings, check it out there.

Dan,

Do a search here on "Coil Pack". I'm not sure if the 98's or even the 4.6's have the induvidual coil packs on top of each spark plug like my 99 5.4. I've had the passenger-side rear one replaced twice. The 99's are notorious for this because there's a coolant hose that goes from rubber to metal right above that coil pack and it drips hot coolant on there once in awhile. The first one was replaced by the dealer at some point and I didn't even know it until I diagnosed the problem the second time around myself. It was green and the other 7 were orange. Sure enough, when I took it in, that was the problem. My truck would almost die and really ran rough. Hot, cold, idle, hard accel, etc., didn't matter. I did a search on rough idle here on the message boards and there was two others that described my exact problem to a 'T'. I have a Superchip, and Airaid. I checked the sensors, and made sure the intake tube and stuff was clean, and it was fine. I let my computer reset, and it ran fine for about 5 minutes, then the rough idle came back. I never took out my superchip.

I've taken my truck in for warranty work with all my mods in and never had any **** at all, but I agree, it's a crap-shoot, and if you're not sure about your dealer's attitude, take them off. Good luck.
