Post Oil choice for noisy starting 99 Romeo 4.6

Has anyone made the switch to synthetic- and experienced SIGNIFICANTY quieter valve noise on startup?
I am reluctant to switch- because of the expense, doubt that it will work any better than conventional oil in alleviating this problem , and the fact once you switch, you should stay with it.

I have run four different engines on symthetic oil. One for 160K miles. It is my opinion that the symthetic does make the engine run smoother and quieter. I would reccomend Mobil 1. Good luck and you should notice a difference as soon as you start it up after your oil change.

Mine used to make bad noises. It turns out I was using the wrong oil filter. The only filter that make the noise any better is the Motorcraft FL820s. Make sure that is the only filter you use. I also use Mobil 1 and like it very much.

I'm running a 0w30 from Amsoil, before I was running syntec. Big difference in quietness.

Mobil 1 and Amsoil both make a 0w30. That is what I would use. I run it in mine year round, the 0w30 has more hot and cold protection that a 10w30 conventional. So no need to worry. http://www.exxon.mobil.com/mobil1_ra..._30/index.html

I've used both the Amsoil 20w50, and the Series 2000 0w-30 and have had both types of oil significantly reduce engine noise, valve included.

I had a wrist pin going bad in the #5 cylinder and these new oils quieted the engine down nicely. Traded the truck some time after that though.
