Unhappy O2 sensor (check engine light)

My check engine light came on and had a local shop read the code. The code was PO141
(Downstream heated 02 sensor heater circuit fault-bank 1) I assumed it was a bad sensor-I spent $75 on new sensor- again I assumed "downstream" meant the sensor past catalytic converter and "bank 1" meant left side? Anyway, the new sensor did not help. Very frustrated. Did I assume right and any ideas would be apprieciated. Thanks

Call the Ford service dept and ask them what it means. Then fix whatever it is that they say is the problem.

Well Tina, I already tried that...and as usual, my local Ford dealer was NO help. They needed the truck to tell, even though I already had the code and I'm sure not going to dish out $60 to have them tell me what I already knew and another $150 to fix it.

But anyways, I figured out that "Bank 1" is on the right side of the engine. I put the sensor on the wrong side...duh. Fixed it and no problems so far.

Thumbs up

Good for you, I to am no fan of the "service dept" but was hoping you might have a good one where you live. (I've heard there really are some) Glad you got it fixed.
