Question 5.0 engines

Are the 5.0's in a f-150 the same as the 5.0's in the mustangs? if there not whats the differences?

What year engine are we talking about. I'm not positive, but I think the major difference between the 5.0 and the 5.0 H.O. is the cam, and intake.

The blocks are identical, but the cams and the intake and a few other mods. I also think the heads are different, probably a different sized throttle body too.

It was my understanding when I had my '92 F-150 w/5.0 that the heads were the same, but the pistons were cast instead of forged and the cam & intake/throttle body were different. I'm not sure if the truck has a roller cam or not. Also the firing order is different. The 5.0 truck engines fire the way 302's and 289's used to. The 5.0 in Mustangs have the 351 firing order.
