o.K. to start using synthetic oil at 32,000miles??
Yes it is fine to start using synthetics now.
I would do an engine flush before you switch over to clean out any of the deposits that have formed from the conventional stuff. I would imagine that any parts store carries some type of engine flush that you put with the old oil and run the engine for a few minutes then drain it all out.
Read the directions.
(Doing this prevents your new clean filter from prematurely clogging because of the cleaning properties of synthetic oil)

Once you do this you are good to go. I would also recommend using a top quality filter, either Mobil 1 or Amsoil or Pure 1.
Good luck.
