1999 vs 2000, 4.6L V8

In 1999 there was only a 220hp/290ftlbs 4.6L V8 engine available. As I understand in 2000 you were able to get either the 220hp version of the 4.6 or the 260hp/300 and some odd ftlbs of torque version. What did they do to they 4.6L to gain this power?

Am I completely mistaken about there being a 260 HP version of the 4.6L?

You are thinking of the mustang 4.6L it sounds like. There was a power increase on the truck version 4.6L engine to 231hp and 293ft. lbs. tq not sure which year it got bumped though. I am guessing 2000.

Well I have a 2000 with the 4.6 and it is rated at 220hp and 290ftlbs it was the 2001 they increased the hp to 231 the Mustang engine is rated at 260hp since 99 the 5.4 in the F150 was increased to 260hp in 99 from its 235 in 97 and 98 so you must have mis read some info or got some wrong info some where but for the 4.6 engine in the F150 the 99 and 2000 have the same ratings.
