Question Will Synth. oil void Warranty?

I have read my new extended warranty and
can not find any provisions to the fact if runnig Synth. oil will void it. Does
anyone have the answer? Also if you have had your head gasket replaced and are running Synth. have you had any problems with leaking again?

Please read the posted web site below,

I hope that this will answer all the questions that you stated.

Also check out synthetics for your bikes. I know that there are a couple of full synthetic oils out there that the beat the H-D factory oil/which is not synthetic.
Though make sure that you use oil that is made for motorcycles--you need the high zinc to control wear on your cam lobes(in the H-D)
I have a motorcycle link on my web site for those types of oils. Also Mobil 1 makes a scooter oil too.

Mark,

Does H-D say any synthetic oil will void your warranty? or does it say that any Automotive type SJ oil will void it.

It is my understanding that H-D wants you to use an oil with a higher zinc content, that is why you must stay away from SJ oil, they don't have the zinc that is required.

If you would like I know someone who works for H-D at their test facility in Talledega Alabama and I can find out for sure.

As far as leaks go, they are cause by using conventional oil for long periods, which build up sludge and varnish on the inside of your engine like this: http://www.exxon.mobil.com/mobil1_ra...est/index.html

Then you gaskets dry-rot from the ouside in. when you switch over to synthetics, they actually clean all of that sludge and varnish off. and cause leaks, because essentially the sludge and varnish became your gasket when it built up.
That is why some older cars are prone to leaks. But if you have new gaskets or a rebuilt engine you should not have this problem.

Hope this helps

Well for my Buell, it clearly states that Synth. oil will void your warranty. I know
a lot of people with Buell and they all say that synth is good, but only if your out of warranty.
As far as the leaks, that's about the passanger head gaskets on the 5.4L, I'm
curious if anyone has had them replaced
and is running synth. and having any problems
with leaking.

I've used Mobil-1 in my vehicles since about 1978, switching to it from the 1st 1200 to 2000 miles on the clock. Have not had a problem with oil leaks in any of those. My current most high mileage car is a '92 4.6l Town Car with 69k miles.

Thanks Sparks, I just wasn't sure, because the warranty for my Buell says that Synth. oil will void it,so I was just checking to make sure for my Ford. Now if anyone's had the problem with the leaking head gasket can
come foward with info on synth. oil pro's
or con's there?
