MAF gutting and computer code
HI!... MATT90GT : You don't have to tell ME how a MAF works, I have known that for a long time and also learned about it in my mechanic coarses! It seems YOU are the one that is having a hard time understanding exactly how a MAF set-up works. If you go back and read my post VERY carefully, you will see I never mention the word "ELEMENT" anywhere in my post. Also, like I said in THAT post, it's hard to explain to someone with out showing them physically how it works. When I said "SENSOR", I was not referring to the MAF element!!! Let it go! I DID and now you bring it back again! MAN!
I have a '98 F-150, 4.6, supercab, 4X2, gutted the MAF, hooked up the computer and monitored the engine for 100 miles, result.
Louder intake noise, crisper response to throttle input, the A/F and all other parameters looked fine. It did not run rich or lean, seems like the computer adjusted just fine, also don't forget to disconnect the battery to clear the computer, it should learn everything from the begining with the new mods. Good luck.
