Question AIR-BOX MODS>

I saw the air box mod in the tech. section. Clever! I see no need to pop for a FIPK now.If you've done your truck, I'd like your comments. I'm curious about 4 things-1.Do you get an adequate seal at the element.2.How does your truck run in extremely cold temps.3.Can water splash up and foul the open element.4.How much more service does your k+n require, especially in back road operation? Thanks.

I ran mine for a whilr with th open element. I then opted to put it back on and give it a three inch fresh air tube. In my opinion it doesn't make a difference which way you do it. Either are a great inprovement. I put my box back on because I drive alot on gravel road and in the woods. It tended to get muddy with the open element.

I do the same as Black 98 and RoushFan...I along with the airbox mod, I use the stock filter housing over a K&N. Then I connected the stock housing to the fender with a 3" pipe. No worries about water splashing up. This setup looks stock but has improved breathing. I don't know if Velocity Tube, FIPK or Airaid would give much more in terms of performance, but any of them would certainly look better.

Try to keep it sealed. You really want cool air.
