f111man - SOUNDS FISHY ? - Did your truck start ? did oil gauge read at all ? How did you find out abt no oil ? Did it seaze up ?

Sherlock Holmes would say - elliminate all the things it cannot be, what is left will be the answer.

Ergo - someone, for whatever reason sucked the oil out of the pan.

Don't know pal - let us know if your engine seized up.

Bummer

Just so I understand your last oil change was in Aug. last year? If so when was the last time you checked the oil BEFORE you found it was empty. Advice on how to handle dealer: Good luck, I am positive if you have not changed the oil in 7 months you are going to be in for a hard time from them.I believe Ford says every 3,000 or 3 months which ever comes first and could care less what the oil companies say you can do with their oil. From all the flack people have gotten from Ford over using 10-W30 when there is a engine failure I would hate to tell them your story. I don't want to seem completely negative on this but I personally could not let my truck go that long with changing oil.

If you only changed your oil twice in one year...you are in big trouble! Your dealer and FORD *WILL* gladly charge you a hefty fee for a new engine. Even if you have an extended warranty...you are going to find that you are out of luck! They will want to see oil/filter receipts.

Best thing you can do *if* you do need a new engine is to find a wreck with a good engine.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your interest- no verdict yet as I have not had the engine pulled (this weekend)-willexamine closely then-I HAVE heard from a local machine shop that Mobil One does seep/burn into the upper cylinder area and should not be used in cars under 70k miles(??)I have used Mobil -1 for years only in the 15-50 weight and have had no problems- I am highly suspicious- I take good care of my cars (89 audi quattro w mobil one 91k miles and a Ford Ranger 88 v-6 about the same) so I am not helpless or a dummy- there was no clue that I was losing/burning oil and I am mighty pissed off-have bought a newly rebuilt Ford factory engine I am waiting to pick up after mine is pulled.I am suspicious that Mobil one in the 5-30w is just too thin to use -I will know more shortly...keep me in the "loop"-- F-111Man
