I posted several days ago that I could smell burnt oil when I ran my truck hard. After looking real close today it seems that there might be some oil leaking around the valve cover gasket. There is oil residue on both valve covers. Not a whole lot. Matter of fact I had to do a white glove test to actually determine the leak. You really can't see it.
I'm going to take it in tommorrow and see.

Has anyone else had this problem.

buddy....go talk to your service guys, mine is going in next week to get a new head gasket, apperently, ford was using a different gasket or something that was faulty...........that's whut I've gathered from many hours of fighting with them about fixing my truck.......

Imoore 69 I have the exact same problem,I smelled burnt oil and there is like a clear or some kinda moisture around head gasket on top.When you rub it with finger tip and smell its smell likes oil.I brought to dealer and had them look at it they found no leak but they did change oil and put a special dye in it, my next change in a couple of weeks they will check with special light.I do have to admit since last change I haven't smelled the oil and since then I have installed chip,K&N fipk along with Gibson I have been giving it some good wot and no burning smell.Next week I will take out chip reset factory computer and drive it for a week so if there are any problems the factory computer will find them and they won't know I have a chip.I hope they don't give me crap about K&N and Gibson.I hope there's nothing wrong with engine truck is breaking in very nicely.Engine build date 8/13/99,out of curiuosity when was yours built?
