cuz "Pentium" was already trademarked and "Midget" didn't do too good in the test groups

Ford used the TRITON name for the modular engines because there are three of them the 4.6, 5.4, and 6.8, hence the prefix TRI.

Sounds better than TRITOFF .

PS: It is TRITON, not TRITION. But, that reminds me of a limerick.

Titian, while mixing rose madder,
Had his model pose nude on a ladder.
Her position to Titian
Suggested coition,
So he climbed up the ladder and had 'er.

Cool

Triton

Triton, in Greek mythology, son of Poseidon. He was a creature of the sea, the upper half of his body being human, the lower fishlike. Later legends speak of many Tritons, sometimes described as riding over the sea on horses. Tritons characteristically blew trumpets of conch shells.

Also,
The largest moon of Neptune, the coldest place yet recorded in the solar system(if the info was correct) at -235 Celcius.

Both cool things to name something after, and sounds much better than Vortec, lol,,,,,98

That brings to mind another question. How come Ford didn't put engine badges on the fenders? My old black Mustang LX says 5.0. How come my 5.4 doesn't say so. I'd like to be able to look over at a stop light and see if the truck next to me is a 5.4 or 4.6.

Yikes... not quite that old... but definitely a hippie in the 60's... haven't totally reformed yet, either!
