Question AutoXray OBD II scanners

Did a search and came up with very little. Do you like it. I read they don't read the O2 sensors in the Fords? But how about the overall diagnostics and scanning infomation? Thanks.

I have an AutoXray scanner and I really like it. Although I don't own a ford, I have used it on my neighbors 97 ford ranger to see why his SES light on and it turned out to be one of his O2 sensors. I can't remember if it actually read the O2 readings while it was running. I know it does on my 98 Chevy truck. Here is their website. www.autoxray.com

AutoTap is cheaper, but runs through a PC. It does a lot more than pull codes. A good friend of mine turned me onto it.

Thanks guys. I just got mine today. I was hoping for a trouble code; due to the bad gas mileage I get. But everything read fine. The scanner is only able to read two O2 sensors.

jupiterak,
Did you get the AutoXray scanner? You can get the enhanced OBDII update for $49.99 and it gives you alot more information.

I thought about getting autotap but I didn't have a lap top computer and didn't want to buy one. Its also only good for OBDII vehicles I bought the AutoXray scanner that came with all of the cables capable of scanning most all computer controled vehicle from 1982 to present. Have fun with yours.

Yoshi,
I paid $349 for mine. It came with five different cables, a hard plastic case, and an owners manual. I later bought the computer interface cable and software so I could download the information from the scanner to the computer. You can also update the scanner software with this cable. The cable was $75.

After I bought mine, I found a place that was selling it for $313.

Go to the autoXray website and they have some links to various places that sell the scanner. One of these was the one that had it for $313.

wtd- I just got the OBD II scanner for $250.00. If I can get the complete kit for $313.00. Then I'm gonna return it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that.

jupiterak,
I just checked and they don't have it for $313 anymore. Its now $349. I did find a place that sells the whole kit including the PC link cable and software for $399 which is a good deal.

Thumbs up

WTD- Thanks I checked out OnTool.com.

http://www.ontool.com/store/search?manufacturers=441

I'm definitely sending mine back and getting the $399.00 kit. I'll give you a shout if I have any problems. Thanks again.

*UPDATE* I just called Ontool.com and they don't stock the Autoxray but they order from the manufacturer and have it shipped to you. Also, they have a promotion for a free Chilton's shop manual ('82-'97) model years.

jupiterak,
I'm glad I could be of help. I think you will enjoy the scanner. I have found out that different vehicles give different information. My 98 ext-cab Z-71 only gave 52 parameters of information using the enhanced OBDII upgrade. I did a 96 2500 chevy van that gave 82 parameters of information. We both had 350's. I just found it interesting that an older vehicle would give more info than a newer one.
