Post Swapping A 4.2 ????

If I wanted to swap my 4.2 out with something bigger, what could I shove in there???? 4.6?? 5.4??? I dont wanna have to change the tranny. ( 5 speed ) I'm just throwing around Ideas. Any other crate motors that would be a fairly easy swap?? what could I expect to pay to do this??

A 4.6l or 5.4l could fit in there, with some adjustments. I dont know much on engines and stuff as of now, but it would cost more than 3000$ for the motor itself.

I saw a classified for a 4.6L with Transmission + computer + superchip and everything for 2000 bucks (what a deal)! The guy actually wants to put a 302 in there??

ccla, I think the job will be a big one, don't forget that the computer will not be the same, and maybe the wiring harnesses? You can fit a carb fead 460 in their, I saw this on the net somewhere. The guy also put a solid axle in the front.

It just might be cheaper to put a supercharger on the 4.2L, check the boards their is someone that put a SCharger on his 4.2L.

You can do the swap but you will need the engine, transmission, computer, wiring harness from a V8 truck. The V6 trans will not bolt up to the V8 because the bellhousings are different. (the V6 uses the same bellhousing as a 5.0, believe it or not). Be sure the engine you buy has all of the accessories with it (A/C compressor, etc..)
