Navigator Heads
Navigator Heads
I was giving it some thought as I was driving today. How much do Navigator DOHC heads cost? They should just bolt on with a new computer, since it runs on the same block. My new job pays really well, so with any luck, cost would not be a factor.
Any info would help. Thanks guys.

I was thinkin' about that a year or so ago but I recollect someone writing that the heads are all different (more than # of valves) between 4.6, 5.4 and DOHC. Regardless, I think you'd also have to do the intale manifold (probably different flow porting and complete exhaust system to get the full benefit. And then don't forget the computer is going to need to be reprogrammed to give it the knowledge it needs to properly deal with the difference.
I think its one of those things that sounds cool and easy but once you look carefully at it, it ain't necessarily so.
Get a blower.

Hey guys not to burst your bubble but im pretty sure that it cant be done onless MAJOR engine work. you may want to look in to it and see i did i looked in a sport truck mag (if i can find the article ill post it on here and let you see it but i know that theres a lot of work involved
it will take alot more than just changing the heads, the PCM must be changed, the wiring harness for the engine must be changed, you must have a 4R100 trans, cause the navigator only comes with the 4R100 and PCM will not work with a 4R70W. the timing chain and guides are different, the intake manifold must be changed, also the exhaust manifolds, and exhaust will not work, all in all, get a blower. it will be cheaper in the long run.
