Navistar International is supposed to be making a six cylinder version of the powerstroke (T444E) to replace the current V-8. It will be 100lbs lighter and use a variable squash plate turbo that will make more horsepower and torque than the current powerstroke. It will definatly be in the F-250 - F-350 and will most likely be in the F-150. This is a joint venture between navistar and Ford called the Blue oval daimond company, and ensures that Ford will use Navistar engines for many many more years. So don't believe anybody else when they say that a Cummins or Cat will be powering out rides.

Last Summer I spoke with a dealership owner who had the opportunity to demo one of the new F-150's with the V-6 diesel. He indicated to me, "it was very impressive".

International is NOT making a six cylinder version of the old powerstroke (T444E). They are however coming out with a new G2 design of the powerstroke. The V-8 version in the F-250 and up trucks and a V-6 version in the F-150 and Expedition. The V-6 is basically the same engine with 2 cylinders chopped off. The V-8 will outperform its predecessor in hp and torque and be lighter though Im not sure how much. Hope this clarifies.
