Had mine fixed on 2-22-00.

On 2-29-00 the engine developed a rattle. Dealer says it's the crank bearing and Crankshaft. Says it's not related to the recall works.

He is recommending a new engine.

Could these damages to attributable to the faulty gasket?
How an I tell?

I just got mine done last week for the second time. Since I previously had it done in Feb 1999, I didn't get the new updated gasket that came out in Mid-1999. This time they gave me two options: get a refund or get it done again with the proper gasket. I chose to get it done again. My only question is what freaking gasket did they put in the 1998 4.2L's???

Heck no...they fixed ASAP in fact...but now they have had my truck for 4 days and still have not found out what is wrong with my anti-freeze leak. A half a day on the timing cover to fix that but over 4 days to see were it now leaking....go figure.
