Post Coolant temp?

I just bought a new Clubwagon with the 5.4L engine. It only has 600 miles on it, but my wife just came home after driving 30 min. and I am still in the stage of crawling over and under it to check for leaks etc. The top of the radiator is almost too hot to touch and the same goes for the overfill tank. However, the bottom of the radiator, the big hose on the bottom, and both hoses that go to the oil filter housing are stone cold. It's like there is no flow. It is 75 degrees out. You would think the bottom would be hot. I squeeze the large hose on the bottom and you can hear fluid in the hose. Is this common with this motor? I have a powerstroke in my truck and it doesn't act this way. Has anyone addressed this before. The temp gauge is in the middle. Thanks
