Cool electric fan modification

I have a 2000 F-150 with a 5.4, I want to install an electric fan I have heard of people using the Mark 8 fan or the Crown Vic police fan. Has anyone done either of these, and did they have good results. I get my ford parts at cost so I hope I can use one of these fans.
Thanks

that would be me spreading those words.

The CV is a good fan. You can run that with an off the self hayden controller with a 30amp fuse. Works great, that is what is in my truck.

The mark8 is a true animal of a fan. You get the earlier year units and they move up to 5000cfm! They draw a constant 40+ amps running on high. To run one of these, you have a few options:

1. Run the fan on low only, about the same CFm as the CV fan, with a Hayden controller, 30amp fuse. Works great in CJs truck.

2. Run the fan on high only using the Hayden controller that controls a 75amp relay to the fan.

3. Run multiple relays and a coolant temp switch with AC relay to run the fan on low for AC and high for engine cooling:

The SN95 mustang fan from a v6 is a single speed fan. The ones from the v8 cars are hi and low speed units. These are also excellent units. But wire them like the Mark8 units.

Thanks Matt, I will probably go with the Mark 8 fan with the hayden controler and run it on low speed, that way if I see the need for more cooling I can always rewire it to utilize both speeds. Where is the best place to get the hayden contoler? also do they have one that would handle 45 amps for the high speed?
thanks for all the help.
