Any thoughts on the W-8 engine
I wonder what Ford's future plans are for its engines and I wonder if they wouldn't find use out of that new W engine. Seems like that would let you keep a lot of the advantages of a V-type engine (short length, block rigidity, short heavy crankshaft, etc..) but give a crapload more torque and horsepower. It's smaller size would also give you extra room to utilize.
Just think of a W-10 that would be approximately just as wide as the current V-8s but shorter. I also understand that VW is going to work on a W-16 for 2003 or 2004 that will put out a whopping 1001 hp...I also believe the article I read said the 0-60 would be somewhere around 2 seconds (dont' quote me on that...maybe it said 2.9)...But that's neither here nor there, I'm interested in the torque output that thing must have, not the 0-60 for a small funny car..
