It is If you plan on using your F-250 as a family vehicle, with minimal towing.

It depends

If you're not towing and you don't mind being second in stoplight races, it's plenty. Otherwise get the V10 or Powerstroke.

I wouldn't do it. In fact, you may have a hard time finding one in that configuration. V-10 all the way.

thanks for the input, my brother-in-law has been looking hard so i thought i would help him. when i found that this combo rarely exists i'm thinking there is a good reason "not enough power". BTW tubby is kind of a sarcastic nickname LOL

My older bro just got the above. Brand new, and it's loaded. Reason is, they plan to have kids soon so blah blah.

Quesiton is, what kind of mods are available for that motor? Does anyone make a fipk?

5.4:250 as 4.2:150 i.e., It'll be adequate but don't expect to win any races.

hey, Tubby!

What part of SC you in?

5.4 would be ok , but in that truck you need the powerstroke. V-10 mileage would suck too bad.

Regarding the V10, I spoke with a Ford engineer at the 2002 vehicle car show in Anaheim last week and he said the V10's are state of the art engines and will have at least the same, if not better fuel economy over the 5.4's.

But the mileage wouldn't be as good as the PSD . . . that being said, the V10 wouldn't be as noisy or stinky either . . . all comes down to preference. I'd be tempted to take the mileage.
