I had an '87 that was like that. Eventually, I learned to start the gas flowing slow first, then speed it up to full flow.

Thumbs up Had the same problem, try this

I had the same problem on my secondary tank of my 84 F150. The front tank worked fine but the back tank overflowed all the time. It was an easy fix, the guy I bought the truck from replaced the tank and filler hose. The hose that was installed was a universal fit hose. I replaced it with the OEM part and PRESTO! problem solved. Don't know if this is your problem but it's worth checking it out.

Check the filler hose for a kink or restriction, then check the tank vent hose for the same...

My brother had that problem with a used car he bought. Seems the previous owner had a locking gas cap and lost the key. Apparently, they beat it off and the guts of it ended up in the filler tube.
My brother was too cheap to replace the tube so, he just started bringing a folding chair to the gas station.

Now wait just a minute! Just because Raoul thinks he's such a Mister Grand Poobah Smarty Pants Esquire doesn't mean he gets to have the title of ... oh, wait, I guess he does.

Never mind.

You know, considering I've been a member of this site since 1969 - the PC hadn't been invented yet, but that's irrelevant - I think I should have some kind of title too.

On second thought, Mister Grand Old Fart doesn't sound like such a good idea.

Never mind, again.

Question I agree Indyfan,

'1969' deserves some kind of recognition. Perhaps old is taking the wrong tack. Everyone else's 'Registered' date seems small compared to yours.

How about, 'Big Member'?
