Question Sluggish at Initial Throttle.

Does anyone here know what or why I could be having a real sluggish response when initially pressing down the throttle.

What happens is I "Floor" it and it will accelorate rather sluggishly then at around 25 mph it will kick in and go great. This happens weather it is "operating temp" or not.

I have the 4.2 litre V-6 completely Stock.

Any help would be appreciated.

Brent

What is the rear end gear ratio? My 3.55 rear end gives me the same effect. 3.73 should not

Has it always done this or is it a new problem?

I am not sure what the rear end ratio is. Where can I find this infomation out and how much trouble would it be to replace it?

And as far as "Has it always done it"? I am not sure I jsut purchased this truck used.

Rear end ratio would be on the window sticker ,if you have it.

Might be able to find the ratio by breaking the VIN number into its many segments and de-coding it. A shop manual or a Hayes service manual will break the VIN codes down.

The bottom line is that the rear end ratio would be expensive to change. And most owners do not change the ratio unless there is a serious problem in the rear end.
