I pulled off the air intake track. Removed the sensor from the flexible part of the air intake. I just loosened the seal on the large part of the silencer with a regular screw driver and used an ordinary steak knife to cut away the biggest portion of the silencer tube so I could pull it out without having to take off the flexible rubber portion of the air intake.
I disconnected filter to fender housing and cut away all plasric leaving just a 1/2 inch circle of plastic to hold the filter and I also left the to plugs on the bottom that held the filter housing to the engine bay. I left in the stock filter, So I haven't upgraded to a K&N yet, but it feels like it got more pull and sounds really good in the upper rpm band.
