Engine problem... new sounds!!

Ok... I had a "tick... tick tick.... tick" sound from under the hood when accelerating after a cold start. AFter the engine warmed up, it went away.

I have let it sit for a couple days and it was pretty chilly this morning when I started it.... here is what i heard from under the hood:

a constant "chssssssssssshhhh"... sounded kinda like somone was taking a screwdriver and running it in circles around the inside of a coffee can. after about a min of that i heard a "clunk" and it stopped... then it went back to the "tick tick tick" on acceleration.

Bringing it into ford on monday.... anybody have any ideas?

Don't know what it could be. I am LMAO at the way you explained it though.

FIXED

hey guys... found the problem and fixed it. it was the starter. the starter gear wasn't retracting from the flywheel, so it was just spinning along with it while i was driving until it eventually came out... that's what the "chssshh" sound was. replaced the starter and its good as new.
