1997 f150 lariat engine swap

Hello everyone! New here an glad. I have an F150 Lariat with a Romeo engine. Is it interchangeable with a 12/03 F150 Triton Romeo engine. I got it with everything from manifold to wire harness. The only thing I didn’t get was the computer, radiator, an a/c compressor. I even took the aluminum intake. I took it ALL, just in case. Will it fit my 1997? Do I also need the computer? Please help!?

Thank you so much for responding Stoffer. I was worried I had wasted my money. Thanks! So to be really clear; I am to leave my engine computer on my truck and use it with my 2004 engine Instead of using the computer on the 2004 f150?

Oh, it's a 2004 engine? Did it come with a conventional or electronic throttle body?

Note - you CANNOT use the 1997 intake or exhaust manifolds on the 2004 engine. You cannot use the 2004 computer.

I have the manifold for the 2004 just have to attach from 1997 exhaust. I will have to check into wether is a conventional cable or electronic. Why would this be a problem?

2004 used electronic, 2003 and earlier used cable. You will have to use the 1997 throttle body on the 2004 manifold.

Another thought - I believe the 1997 used separate coolant temp and head temp sensors, 2004 only has head temp. This may require computer reprogramming.

2003, or 2004?
2004 a 3V eng was used, UNLESS(!!!) your '04 is a Heritage" model... which was an excuse to use up old '03 2V eng parts. What else was 03 & carries forward to the Heritage model, or '04, is above my paygrade, along with most stuff.

Bill, I "think" he's talking about a 4.6. If he's talking about a 5.4, a 2004 3v is not compatible without a lot of work.
