Electric Fan How many CFMs??

To perform the swap to electric fan unit in the F150 4.6L, how many CFMs does the fan need to push?
Thanks
Jason

electric cooling fans

Hey jwrape

I used two perma-cool 16" cooling fans rated at 2100 cfm each and have not had any problems with so far.

Larry.

I believe the fan will end up between the radiator and the engine and will "pull" instead of "push". Some fans can be made to do either. Look at the sig for Neal. He is runing two 16" fans.

about 2500-3000 is about what you need. Remember that the fan only is used to cool the truck when it is not moving or when moving slow, like below 35mph. The rest of the time, the air moving into the radiator will cool it.

Do a search and you will find more than enough info on the electric fans

that is a nice generic guide, but you also have to consider where you live, your raditor and cooling system capacity (water pump, thermostat, pulley size).

I run the crown vic fan. Cj has the mark8 fan on low. Both flow MORE than enough air and they are only going at about 3000 cfm at the most. Oh, we also both have the 4.6 and the 1.02" thick radiator.
