Hello I have a 98 f150 with a V8 5.4 triton and was wondering if anyone knew any better faster engines and better transmission that I could throw in my truck thanks

 

I think the 97 and 98 5.4 engines have lower hp ratings than the 99 up due to the head design. What trans do you have now? What does the tag on the door jam say?

 

Most of the 98 5.4's had the E4OD, there's no better transmission that will work. Trans code for that is "E", the 4R70W is "U".

A 99 or later 2 valve 5.4 out of a F150 will have PI heads. Any other kind of swap is going to be complicated and costly. I suppose you could put a supercharger on yours. Another possibility is a 5.4 4 valve out of a Navigator.
