Post 1999 F150, 50MPG....

Guys,
This story may seem far fetched but the source is not a BS'er so hear me out. My Dad was talking to this guy that works for him about trucks. This guy's brother bought a new F150 in northern Minnesota last year and was getting an astonishing 50 MPG. After he had the truck for several months, 4 BIG guys from Ford showed up on his door step and told him they are taking his truck. This guy said no way, but they told him he could go to the local Ford dealer and pick out any 2 trucks he wanted and Ford would be taking his truck. Needless to say, he did go get his 2 new trucks.

The question is, how did this special truck slip through the cracks and end up with this guy? Why would Ford want this truck back so bad? Can you imagine how the oil companies would hate a truck that get's that good of gas mileage. Interesting story nonetheless.

50mpg? It does sound far-fetched. Was it a "natural gas" 5.4l?

Cool

You mean to tell me that if I had a special truck that Ford could just come take it away. I guess any two trucks for the price of one would keep me quiet. I have to take something like I have now and make sure I got a lightning out of it.

I'm afraid if I had a truck that Ford wanted that bad, it would be worth a lot more that any two trucks off the local lot! Can you say law suit for violations of my constitutional rights! The right to own property was given to us a long time ago, and I doubt Ford could take it away! Now, say for a cool million, I might be persuaded to part with it!

Question

I find this hard to believe, but who knows these days. I wouldn't let them have it that easily. If I had that truck, I know it's worth more than $23K - $33K to FORD.
Figure you already bought "ONE TRUCK", so they are giving you a free truck. That's it. I would take an Expedition, A Mustang GT, a F-350 Crew cab, and a... heck, a whole lot more than just "1 free truck" !!!
I just can't buy into it...

Question

Does this guy still have the VIN of the original F150? If so, post it and maybe someone here could run the number and unravel the mystery. I think I would have negotiated a little bit better deal than 2 for 1, but can you image the option of picking out a couple of trucks like that, like kids in a candy store.

Don't give MONDOLX any grief, was only a matter of time before this story broke anyway.

It was me.
I'm keeping the second truck out back under a tarp. It's only a Work Model. I drive the XL daily.

I must have said something funny that they didn't get right away cause after we cut the deal and they were walking away, they suddenly burst out laughing.
