High Pressure Fuel System Treatment

2014, XLT Screw 5.0L, 4x4
Coming up on my 150,000 mile service interval. I was talking to the service dept at the local dealership and one other service they recommended was a high pressure fuel system clean/treatment. I've heard of fuel system cleaners that are fuel additives but have never heard of this particular service. I guess my question is this: Is this service really worth it or should I just look at a good additive to clean the injectors/fuel system?

Ask them if it's BG or Motorvac. If so, it can't hurt but it is a profit center for the shop. I have it done on mine at every spark plug change.

A couple bottles of Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA in a half tank of gas every so often works for me.

BG/Motorvac also cleans other parts of the intake. Gas additives don't do that.

So, I suppose you put into the intake manifold and let it sit for a while and restart to blow it out? Like seafoam?

No, it's all done with the engine running, using an air-powered tool and solvents:

Fuel injector cleaning:

Air induction cleaning:

These 2 services clean the injectors and the whole intake system, and combustion chamber deposits. Like I said, it's a profit center for the shop, but it does work. Both services should be done if you do it at all.
