1990 302 performance upgrades

I am looking to start a build on a 1990 F-150 with a 302. I am looking for engine performance upgrades to eventually boost it. Can I change out the intake for a mustang I take of the same year? I’m pretty sure I also need to swap the computer. I want to keep it efi. Anyone have any experience with this? Preciate the help

Not to rain on yer parade but I've seen many go this route and all were disappointed. The 302 does decent until you hit 300HP. After that, reliability drops like a rock. Yeah, you can get more than 300 HP out of one but after that it gets expensive. What I would suggest doing is finding a donor truck that already has from the factory a 460 engine. You'll have the ECM, pulleys, motor mounts, everything to make the swap and do it right. You can do the rebuild as you get money to throw into it. I'd do all mods before dropping the 460 in but that's me. You would also have the correct tranny that will take the power. Best of luck with the venture. As you're about to find out, there's no replacement for displacement when talking a naturally aspirated engine. You get a lot more gains out of the big motor vs the small block.
