2006 4.6L oil dipstick replacement

My '06 had a rusted dipstick. I gently heated the tube and the old rusted d.stick came out with ease.
The new OEM d.stick will not slide down inside the tube without really forcing it in. I've read about the problems
about replacing the old tube with a new one and I don't want to experience that. On the first inch of
the beveled tube shows some rough/slightly rusted spots on the inside. I can put the new d.stick in about an
1/8" and that's it.
Any thoughts?

As a follow up:
I used a new 7/16 drill bit and gently cleaned the expanded part of the
d-tube by screwing in/out several times. There was a slight amount of
residual crud on the drill bit. Next, I put the new d-stick in/out a few dozen times
and wiped the stick off each time. Again, there was an very small amount of
crud but it got to the point it wasn't noticeable. I put a small amount of grease on the
o-ring and called it a day. Chances are I'll do an oil change ( even though I
did one 300 miles ago ) just for self satisfaction next week.
