Angry Raccon ate Fuel rail insulators

Hi. I have a 2013 F150 with a 5.0 liter. A friking raccoon ate the Fuel rail insulators. I open the hood to fill the washer fluid and he was sitting on the manifold. Both side are 75% gone. Are the insulators necessary? Do they affect performance? New ones run 50.00 or more.
Thanks for any help.

Probably not. But more importantly, I'd check your wiring harnesses.

Not to be a sourpuss... but your post made me laugh... it really did.

I went over the harness and all the lines. When I opened the hood I freaked out a little. The little Bastard just looked at me. If I would have a gun I would have shot him except I would hit my own truck. Had to set off the alarm to get him to run. I have no idea what attracted him to them. I live in a suburban area. Trash is in those Blue roll arounds that the automatic trucks pick up. Maybe someone in the area has a bird feeder or leaves pet food out. I am going to spray some ammonia under the truck tonight.

Ford wants 82.00 for them. I found them OE of ebay for 50.00 shipped.

I am still to pissed off to laugh yet.

BB4xl ... Are the insulators necessary? Do they affect performance? ...
Not necessary (some years never got them) and they do not affect performance.

Their purpose is to reduce NVH - Noise Vibration Harshness.

Same problem here

Are they called Injector Rail Insulators? Where can I find replacements other than the Ford Dealership?

Unfortunately they use eco-friendly materials using organic compounds (wire coatings/insulators/etc) that attract rodents and other animals that like to cause infestations.

I had a friend that their insurance totaled out due to a chipmunk infestation on a newer Toyota SUV. The infestation ate the coatings off of a lot of the wiring, ate pieces of the intake, etc, etc. It was just too much labor and money to try to correct it. The chipmunks went after all of the stuff that was eco-friendly.

Try one of the online Ford parts dealers, such as tascaparts.com. You won't find OEM any cheaper.

What year and engine?
