I have a ford 1999 f150 4.6l truck that has a knock so i have been pricing motors .I was wanting to no what other motors was made to be able to swap motors with?

 

Try to stay in the 1997-2000 range. F150.

 

Any 4.6 can be made to fit without too many hassles, but a 4.6 out of a 1997 through mid-2000 F150 is a dropin. Anything else may require different intake and exhaust manifolds. There may be other issues, such as oil filter and sensor locations.

 

didn't the E150 run a 2v 4.6 longer before switching to the 3v??

 

The van never did get the 3 valve 4.6, and the manifolds are different among a few other things. Same with the Crown Vic and Town Car.

 

did the same happen with the 5.4 in the E150?

 

Correct, the vans never got the 3 valve.
