distributor pin misaligned.

I am swapping a 1996 302 into my 84 pickup. I have removed the distributor gear and swamped it but I am 1/32 off the pin. Can I drill the hole larger and use another split pin? Any help is appreciated.

Make sure the gear isn't 180 out.

I thought 180 out was a Chevy only issue. My issue is just the gear being misaligned. Does it really matter as far as gear placement? I was searching and found many threads that talked about spinning the gear 90 degrees and drilling a New hole for aftermarket. I'm about to take the fire wrench to it to take the gear back off an try again.
