2000 f150 ext cab 4x4 240k. 5.4 misfire/ pinging /

I can't seem to get this thing running right 5.4 triton sounds like a diesel under load tryed new motorcraft plugs ,new coils ,new mass air flow ,checked cats, checked and rechecked vac lines ect. Fixed a few. Lol.
The truck runs good when cold. Once warmed up starts pinging, at all rpm ,unless you let off the gas. Some days are better than others. If that makes sense. When threw and cleaned the injectors. Off the truck. I'm kinda lost. Was thinking phasers but I guess the v2 does not have the vct solenoid or phaser. I'm not sure. If I read it right.
Runs better when I disconnect the maf. This truck for not like to throw codes.

carbon buildup on top of the pistons can cause pinging. Put a couple bottles of Gumout for high mileage engines in the gas. It may be related to the timing chain. May need new chains. Maybe do a compression test.

codes?

Was a compression test done while removing plugs and before installing the new ones? might want to try that.

Did you clean the throttle body housing?? There is 2 EGR ports there that can be crusted over.

Pretty sure the 2v do not have phasers, just guilds and tensioners.

Also what is your fuel pressure after it is up to temp?

I don't think compression. Or it wouldn't be good some days and not others ,right?
