Boroscope it first and find out exactly how much damage is done before you buy parts or make sure you can take them back. There is a chance there is significant damage.

You are going to overpay at the dealer unless they will sell to you at wholesale. You can get genuine Ford parts a lot cheaper online from places like tascaparts.com. If you do a Google search on the part number you will find other sources, compare prices.

Spark plugs burning out.

I recently posted that my 2001 screw 5.4l was idling rough. Come to find out that it was the spark plugs. Problem solved right? Wrong. It keeps burning out cylinder 2 and 4. I bought motorcraft platinum tips when i did the tune initially and ran fine for less than a day. Took to a shop. They checked the pressure in the cylinders and the vacuum everything was the way it suppose to be. Until they pulled the pluds from cylinder 2 and 4 they shot. I bought autolite double platinum replaced all for on that one side and again 2 and 4 gone replaced again just those two cylinders again gone what is the problem im at a total lost. Can anyone have a clue what it is? Im literally banging my head on a brick wall. Lol.

I think you said the gear on the end of the cam would move a little without moving the cam. Take a good look at it and find out why. Perhaps remove the valve cover and see if there is anything in the valve train that doesn't look right.

I've got both valve covers off and the timing covers off also by just looking at it I can't see anything wrong and rotating the engine I can't tell anything I lined my crankshaft up counted the links from the crankshaft mark to the camshaft mark both sides are the same only difference I see is theirs so much slack on the passenger side chain that I can move the crankshaft and the passenger side camshaft don't move until it pulls the slack out of the chain and the phaser gear will turn a little bit before the camshaft turns. Could something inside the phaser allow the phaser gear to move and not be locked to the cam??

Replace the chains, guides, and tensioners. Replace the phasers and solenoids.

Did you get all the broken pieces out of the pan? What all did you wind up replacing?

I did their wasn't a lot in the pan but I didn't want to take the chance of it getting through the pickup screen. I replaced the vct solenoids cam phasers guides tensioners chains crankshaft timing gear crankshaft sensor camshaft sensors oil pump all new gaskets and new front seal. All new spark plugs three coils a new belt new seals in the valve covers I think that's all
