Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I have a 2008 E150 (4.6L) that has been shutting off during driving in the last couple of months. The engine will slow down, the engine stops taking gas and only revs until it shuts down completely (like 30-40 seconds after it stops taking gas). After a few seconds, I am able to restart it and drive off without any problems.

It initially gave us the code for cat converters so I went ahead and replaced them but problem continued. The Ford dealership also replaced the throttle body and a few sensors as well as the ignition switch but problem continues.

I have replaced the fuel filter as well.

I do not know what to do anymore as I am stuck with this van. Can't get it fixed and I am already almost $2k into the repairs. Can't sell it with a clear conscience either.....

It will go days without doing it but then randomly shuts off... I really appreciate any help!

 

Check the FPDM (fuel pump driver module) for corrosion. I don't know where it is on a van, but on a F150 it's bolted to the frame crossmember above the spare tire.

 

Thank you for your reply. I just checked the FPDM and there no corrosion present. I'm in Florida so really no corrosion anywhere. It seems to be in good shape. Could it still be bad?

 

It's possible - did you unbolt it and check the backside and check the connector?

Unplug the connector and clean the plug and socket with electronic parts cleaner.

Took it off, everything looked clean.. went ahead and cleaned it anyway. Problem persists

 

Anyone else have any suggestions?
