I have read up on heli coils and they don't seem like a good fix to me. I called ford shop and they want to use a heli coil.Full insert seems the way to go. Any advice THANKS

Helicoils have a high failure rate. Timeserts are permanent.

I'm going to move your thread where it will get more hits.

The only 2 inserts that last are Timesert and Lock N Stitch. The Ford dealer SHOULD be using Lock N Stitch, not Helicoil - that's the only "factory approved" repair.

That's funny because I called them today hoping that the repair would be cheaper than the tool and the teck told me they would use a heelicoil. I could not believe he said helicoil and I asked him twice. Is the lock n stitch product any cheaper than timesert THANKS Bob

Are you prepared to do the work yourself? We have a couple members who have the Timesert kit for rent.

I'm surprised a 2006 had a blowout - those have the improved 8 thread heads. Last person who changed the plugs must not have torqued them enough - we recommend 28 ft/lb. Factory spec is way too low.

You can try Galaxy, but he hasn't been too responsive lately.
