Unhappy The Whotnow F150 Screw Died.

As of 9:30 am on 9-16-01 It sustained Serious under carriage damage. Leaking oil, like a blood trail, it managed to make it back to the dealership. What Happend? Well Like i do a million times a day i pulled off the side of the road onto the shoulder to do some work. As i was coming to a stop I heard some thing that sounded like a branch or twig scraping the bottom of the truck. I immediately put the truck into reverse to se what it was, Because i didn't remember seeing anything there before. It idled back about a foot and came to a quick stop. Well I put the truck back in drive and continued going forward till the scraping sound went a way then i got out and looked at what it was. I was an old chain link fence post that had been bent all the way over in the grass, but when i drove over the old corner of the concrete it poped the old post up a little bit. Kinda like stepping on the wrong end of a rake in the cartoons. I was in a hurry so i got back in my truck after doing what i had to do for work and went back to the office. After a while i thought to myself i better just double check what had hapend to the truck, just incase. It was at that time i found the oil oozing out of the halfway crushed oil pan. So i double checked the oil and headed to the dealership. It drove Great. i didnt notice anything even though i kept my eye on the oil idiot gauge. After it was up on the racks it was found that the post went though the bell houseing of the trans. on its way to the oil pan. and possibly damaged the flywheel. so far around 2k in damages. I took to the lot to find another truck. Which i did. An 2002 4x4 F-350 Lariet Crewcab 7.3 turbo Diesel. I hated to send my baby up the creek like that but i actually got money back on it despite the damage and bald tires and scratches. And it is only another 100 dollars a month. Here are my *itches about the old screw.. Never got my Blanket from ford. It has also boiled over several times with and without towing a trailer, Even though it had the class three towing package. The front shocks on delivery where not tightend making banging noises. I have been fighting ford over a half year on this overheating problem, do you think FORD it might be due to the small radiator? And now to my final problem, I though skid plates are suppose to protect you vitals under the truck, they did a good job on the x-fer case and the gas tank, but the front plate , when does that come into play AFTER you take out your front bumper??? plus the engin and trans. the two most expensive parts on the truck are wide open for damage??? i have learned my lesson and will be buying after market plates to replace the factory ones on this new truck. and for cooling, the trans. cooler on this new truck is almost as big as the radiator it self, and they are now including a trans. temp gauge with diesel trucks now. and only 5000 more than what i originally paid for the crew in the first place. Well i think that that is all, sorry i had to vent there at the end. I just hope this truck has less problems than the old Screw.

Hey Whotnow,

When I read your post I did'nt know whether to shed a tear for the Screw that is now history or to be consumed by the envy I feel over your pending acquisition of the beastly F350.

Man, I love the look of that machine, especially the one with the dual rear wheels.

Anyway, please post a pic of the new ride and best of luck buddy!.

Baj,

Talking The New Beast

Well here's my new Beast the 2002 F-350 CrewCab Lariet 7.3 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel. https://www.f150online.com/galleries...ew.cfm?num=429 Now for some improvement,, Let's start with a sound system upgrade, Complements of the Old Screw. Um Mike, I am gonna need a chip here pretty soon. A brush gaurd for the front with four piaa Lights across the top and a nice warn winch down below. Then I'll need some oversized fender flares. but then i'll need some nice 33's to go with them, how about a four inch lift just to be safe. A rino Liner! I better Stop Me and My wallet are haveing hot flashes...........
