need assistance

I'm thinking of trading my 1997 dodge dakota for a 2000 f150 but the guy says the main seal is slowly leaking oil. does this sound like a good trade?

Hard to say without seeing both trucks in person.

Is the Dak 4,6 or 8? Is the F150 6 or 8? Miles of each? Man or autos? Lots of variables to consider. Only 3 years apart isnt enough to say yes or no.

The body of the F150 will last for a lot longer than a 1997 Dakota. The engine might need a little TLC in the F150, but those 4.6l V8s are practically bullet proof as long as they are taken care of.

But it also depends on how well that kota is running and treating you.

FTW, I got a 2000 Dakota, reg cab 4.7l V8, 5 speed NV4500, 3.91 LS, Red Clear Coat 2wd and it's in showroom condition. Fun truck to drive. No, I'm not looking to sell it.

the kota runs great, needs tune up, tie rod ends, sway bar and links but other than that runs great has a couple rust spots on it but it came to OK from Minnesota so that was expected. just not sure if the work would be worth it with the f150

To fix the rear main seal, the transmission has to come out.

yea I got a buddy that has a shop and he hit me at 400-450 to fix the seal but could that seal leaking cause other problems that I should be worried about? I don't want to have the seal fixed then something else messes up on the truck
