Hey I have a 96 f150 with the 302 5.0 and it has 101400 miles and I just replaced the head gaskets but it doesn't run great probably just a become hose leak or timeing but I was browseing for a new 302 and summit had a atk brand new not remanufactured 302 high performance 300 hp for 2700 I'm going off to college next year and I'm afraid of driving that truck but don't want to get did of it andvant aford a new used truck I can swap theengine myself so no labor cost but wouldit be worth it?

Are you sure it's 101k miles and not 201k or 301k miles?

If it's 101k miles, that engine should not be worn out. Check it out really well and fix it if it has minor problems.

Fix your issues you have now. Can't be that much 2700 to get you back in shape with your current engine
