my dizzy is stuck on my 95 f 150 5.8 liter. any ideas

 

Stuck as in;
can't turn it to time the motor?
can't remove it?
doesn't advance when the RPM's increase?

 

I can't get it to turn at all with a wrench after I loosen the set screw. I swapped out the 5.0 motor to a 5.8 motor and I'm running the 5.0 computer.i feel it doesn't advance with the rpms or anything. I checked the timing and it stays at 10 degrees the whole time. Me and a buddy even tried turning it at the same time and it didn't budge.

 

Remove the hold and bolt,see if you can tap it upward w/o turning it. if it comes up a little, spray some 2+2 carb cleaner between the block & Dist., and let it sit and spray it again, then try to turn it. Also check to see if the vacuum to the dist vac unit is working when you rev the engine, may not be getting vac on the engine rev to advance the timing.

 

If no vacuum on this Dist. then check inside the Dist for weights and springs. If it has them, then they may be stuck and need to be freed up and lubed. If this does not apply then change the computor

 

I seem to recall running into this problem. Seems to me gentle use of a BF hammer fixed it.

 

BFH is my favorite piece of equipment...........for working on Chevys!

 

C4 works great too. Works on all makes.
