5.4 squealing sound on start up

First of all, thanks to all who contribute to these forums. They help me and I am sure so many other people.

Now to the problem I am having. I have a 2007 F250 with the 5.4, truck has 165,000 miles. The problem I am having is I have started hearing this squealing sound when I start my truck, it almost sounds like a fan blade hitting something after the squealing stops. This lasts about 5-10 seconds after I start up. After that, no problems. My first thought was probably the belt. I removed belt and started truck for a few seconds to eliminate any pulleys in the belt loop. Sound was still there. So I went ahead and changed the belt while I was at it. After having my wife start it several times and listening, it sounds like its coming from the drivers side exhaust manifold area. Would maybe a bad catalytic converter cause this? Or possible a issue from the engine? Once this sound goes away, I do not hear it again until I turn it off and start again. It really does not seem to matter if the truck is warmed up or not. I have no check engine lights or anything.

I have a code reader so I plugged it in, and it did have a misfire on cylinder 4, which is actually on the passenger side, this sound sounds like its coming from the drivers side. I have had intermittent miss fire issues on this truck since I bought it used 30,000 miles ago, but they are few and far between. I changed the plugs and coils right after I bought it and that helped a lot, but did not resolve the issue. I even took it to the dealer and they were at a loss why I still had the misfire.

But all that aside, the truck is still running good. I have not seen a loss in power or increase in gas usage. I have read some people say their starter caused this issue, but I believe the started is on the passenger side.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I could be the fan clutch...mine would make a chirping noise at start-up, and quit after about 30 seconds or so...the only way I was able to find it is it chirped after I shut it off...I didn't replace clutch...it quit doing it...

Figured out my problem. It was the starter scrapping against my fly wheel. Luckily I think just the starter fixed this problem. Changed the starter out and so far so good. Hope it does not return. Do not want to have to change out the flywheel.
