Wooohooo......beating up on a bunch of 4x4's and V6 cars!! Yeah, it will definitely take 340hp to beat those guys. LOL! Yeah, that burnout proves alot too. An 18 second Suburban could do a burnout like that! LOL! Although, I will add....that was a kick *** burnout! Thumbs up!

I'm still waiting to be proven wrong......

Bring the truck to the Dyno, when you don't make over 240rwhp....try not to cry to much as you could dehydrate.

And to Mr Flea.....All this talk coming from someone who eats Hondas!

p.s. I can sorta play the sig game!!

You my friend, are very arrogant.

How dare you say how Neal will cry when he doesnt make what he KNOWS what he will. You have lost credibility here pal.

Take your truck and try beating some of the cars neal does. You wont do so hot. They try racing him, and he beats em and you rip on him for that? Geez.

HI!... SOOPERCREW : Just a quick note for ya, the easiest way to get your posting rights revoked on this site is to start name calling in your posts! STEVE, the WEBMASTER frowns on that and will not cut you any slack. With that said consider yourself WARNED.

Now back to proving you wrong some more. 1st off you say my MATH is'nt up to par? HMMM? 267.81RWH.P X's 0.25% equals 66.95H.P drivetrain loss. Now take 267.81 + 66.95 = 334.76. Where the hell do you get 356H.P? As for using the 25% drivetrain loss with RWH.P #'s, that's as close as I can get right now since I don't now my exact FLYWHEEL H.P #'s. The only way to do that properly is to remove the engine and get it dynoed on a ENGINE DYNO. The 5.4 crate engine I am building WILL be done in this fashion and THEN after installation will be dynoed on a "EDDY CURRENT" dyno to get exact drivetrain loss figures. I think you need to go back to school or use a calculator!LOL! Unless you were using CHEVY or RICER math then I understand!LOL! By the way, just in case you did'nt read my posts carefully, I am stating FLYWHEEL H.P #'s not RWH.P #'s when estimating close to 340H.P! As for your comment about my buddies dyno #'s, he had his car dynoed on a "EDDY CURRENT" dyno in the states, not on a DYNOJET here. It's also a WELL know fact that a N/A 5.4 responds better to exhaust and headers than the LIGHTNING. SVT computer designed the "L's" exhaust system to flow almost perfectly for the stock and mildly modded set-ups. That's why the guys in the "L" forum are having such a hard time finding H.P gains in aftermarket exhausts. As for chips in the "L's, I think you need to go over the the "L" forum and start reading. There are guys on there that are picking up 40-45 (FLYWHEEL) H.P with aftermarket chips. MIKE TROYER's SUPERCHIP alone picks up 42H.P at the flywheel. Superchips also proved that the JBA headers out of the box give you 17H.P on a N/A 5.4. And YES, SUPERCHIPS uses a "EDDY CURRENT" dyno machine. I would love for you to go over to the "L" forum and start making these sort off claims over there. They will prove you wrong in NO TIME flat!LOL! As for me not making close to 340H.P (flywheel), try going over to the SUPERCHARGERS forum as well. There are a lot of guys in there that have chargers mostly set at 6PSI that are making impressive RWH.P #'s. Guess what? I just about beat all their posted 1/4 times with a N/A truck of same or close configuration. Also my truck went 16.01E.T stock at SPARTA DRAGWAY with just 4.10 gears for a mod. On the same day I ran with my SUPERCHIP installed and ran a 15.39E.T. That's a 0.62 reduction in my 1/4 mile times with just the chip. And YES these runs were duplicated several time with the exact same results that day. Then the following year in just about the same conditions, temp, bar, track conditions, with the addition of ASP POWER PULLEYS, CUSTOM JBA HEADERS, BAUMANN ENGINEERING SHIFT KIT, and TWIN DERALE 16 INCH ELECTRIC FANS,my truck ran very consistant 14.52E.T's with a ton of top end fuel starvation problems. So with using YOUR MATH, I guess it only takes 20-30H.P to drop 1.49 seconds off my STOCK E.T? NOT!!!!!!! If that was the case then I guess I only need about 50 more H.P to go extemely LOW 13's!! NOT!!!!! once again! Anyway since you like to use the dyno so much with it's graphs and such, I think you should go check out www.seanhylandmotorsport.com . Go to their "L" section and see what they get for RWH.P #'s with a chip, maf, and exhaust. You could be better knowing than them, of coarse they only have THEY fastest N/A modular engined MUSTANG in the world currently, and are considered the FORD modular KINGS. Please repond after reading my post, it make me laugh SO HARD reading your posts that I almost pissed my pants. My freinds are getting a good laugh out of it too, espeically my buddy that works in the dyno room at FORD's!LOL!

Cool

Well Soopercrew, you obviously haven't read all of the above posts because if you did, you would have noticed Neal ran a Porsche. And we squeeked out the win !! Now, if he can keep up to a porsche in a 4500 lb. "street trim" truck, that has to say something about the H.P. that he is creating with his truck. And no it isn't 260 or 300 H.P. either. The cars that he is winning against is lighter than he is and he still wipes their a$$es. Do you have any concept of how much HP that takes for a "Barn on Wheels" to kill a car like that !! Oh and by the way that is a quote from Neal.

That burn out is with no line lock and that is on concrete which is the hardest to spin on. Also, both rear wheels are turning just incase you thought that it is only a one wheel peel.

Neal, no luck with this one either !! Too bad he didn't live up here, you could show him personally with your truck. Maybe if you end up going down to Florida some time to Superchips, he could meet you there and personnally watch in ahhh of all of your HP. Some people will just never learn !!!

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'
Dean

P.S. - I wonder how long my Sig. would be if I went one line for every description ????

Yea... I do eat them... well....

My truck seems to anyways. What do you expect? It's a 5500 pound beast! Actually, it's probably around 5700 with all the stuff I have on it! LOL! And with the mods I have, I figure 250-260 flywheel horsepower at the most. But making fun of me eating hondas (like you probably drive) for breakfast still doesn't justify your "fuzzy math!" LOL!!

Second, I'd like to thank you for calling me Mr. Flea, as you know your roll! Now SHUT YOUR MOUTH! LOL!

Third, if you really worked with a dyno, you would know that a 1:1.00 ratio within the transmission would not produce a 1:1 ratio as the overall drive ratio (i.e. third gear).

Think about it for a while.... then leave and go back to the hole you came out of... no one cares.... no one here likes you, so save yourself a bashing online now.

-Flea

PS... Neal, I'm behind you 110%

Hmmm....lets see here. An engine makes 450hp. There is a 20% drivetrain loss(typical auto). Take 450hp - 20% frictional hp loss. You may need a calculator for this?? Did you get a total yet? Does your calculator say 360hp? Mine does! Ok, lets put this 450 hp engine in a vehicle with an auto on a chassis dyno. OMG, it just put down 360rwhp(or very close). How can that be? Well, let's figure it out. Take 360rwhp and divide by .80? Does your caculator say 450hp? Mine does! Now, lets say we calculate this by Mr. Neal's way? Take 360rwhp x .20. My calculator says 72hp. Take 360 + 72 and what is the total? My calculator says 432hp. Hmmmm!! A little short of 450hp! Why is that? Because you lose hp from the engine through the drivetrain. To figure flywheel hp, you cannot add 20% to rwhp. It will give you an inaccurate figure for flyhweel hp. I used to calculate the exact same way as you, until someone explained the difference and showed me how to calculate the flywheel #'s correctly. Another bit of info.....Manual transmissions typically lose about 15%, auto's about 20% and auto's with looser convertors than stock tend to lose another 5% or so. One actual example....we dynoed a bone stock 00 Lightning. 313rwhp. Take 313 and divide by .80(for auto w/ stock convertor) and what's your total. Does your calculator say 391.25hp? Mine does. Didn't someone just go on about how the Lightning is overrated and they are making almost 400flywheel hp?? I do recall this. If you use Mr. Neals math then you only get 375.6 flywheel hp. Hmmm.....that sounds a little low wouldn't you agree as these Lightnings are by far underrated. But of course I'm wrong and so is our DynoJet chassis dyno. Take a look at most of the speed shops around.....what dyno do you see more of. Is that a Dynojet chassis dyno that I see SHM using? Hmmmm.....

Soopercrew, Neal is using those numbers because HE DOESN'T KNOW HIS FLYWHEEL H.P. FIGURE !!! Man, read the posts !!!

From Neal - As for using the 25% drivetrain loss with RWH.P #'s, that's as close as I can get right now since I don't now my exact FLYWHEEL H.P #'s.
Superchips have documented that the drivetrains losses 69 HP from the flywheel to the rear end. So if he is saying approximately 340 HP at the flywheel, then he is making 271 HP at the rear wheels. That is not hard to figure out. This is an estimate ONLY because he has fuel problems at top end !! If everyone had the resources that you have (dyno shop), he would have had the motor dyno'ed everytime he did something to it, just to let everyone here know what to expect. But then again why would someone want to take the motor out of a truck EVERYTIME they changed a part !! Change all the parts first OR build a monster and then dyno it. I have learned a great deal about this stuff since I have met Neal & Jean Marc (JMC). He knows what he talking about !!! END OF STORY !!!!

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

I can't find the Home made Ram-Air in the Tech Articles???

Can you help me out on that, Bud?

Thanks, R1968

Wink I am confused with all these numbers

All these numbers have me confused, but I do know I have exactly 2 horsepower. That's right 2

A Missouri FoxTrotter Gelding and a Quarter Horse Mare

Have a good one

stock trim rwhp

In stock form my truck was at 166rwhp. So I lost 54 horsepower.

HI!... SOOPERCREW : I'm not saying that the 80% version of your calculation is wrong. What I'm saying is that I can't use that method because I don't know my EXACT flywheel h.p! That's why if you read my SIG "carefully", I'll give you a moment to read it again.................................... That it states my "ESTIMASTED" H.P! I never said exact "H.P"!!!! I'm telling you that I have been using this DRAGMATH program for many, many years now and every vehicle it has been used on, MINE or freinds, that it has been DEAD nuts on 100% of the time. You may love your "DYNOJET" dyno's but I don't trust them as far as I could throw one. For example my buddy has a "91" CORVETTE with a ton of mods done to it. We went across the border and ran it on 3 dynojet dyno's over there. Not one machine was even close to the others. 1ST run yeilded 371RWH.P, 2ND machines run was 404RWH.P and finally the 3RD machine's run of 442RW.H.P. That's a difference of 71RWH.P between the 1st and 2ND dynojet machines!!!! These eratic figures I have seen time again between different DYNOJETS. I may go use one with my truck one day but it will be for strictly humour! All the dyno #'s I've seen from a "EDDY CURRENT" dyno machine on LIGHTNING's never puts their stock RWH.P above 291RWH.P. Yet if you go over to the "L" forum you got guys on there that use a dynojet machine and WOW my bone stock 'L" just made 365RWH.P bone stock! NOT! You can praise your DYNOJETS all you want but for me the REAL way to get a engine's H.P figures is to run the engine (ALONE) on a engine dyno. Why do you think all the kings of dragracing dyno their engines out of the car? Because it's more accurate and the better way of doing it. The reason you see DYNOJET dyno's in most speed shops is because they are CHEAP!!! For between $10,000 - $50,000 you can get a dynojet. Now to get a EDDY current dyno machine, take the figures and well..... times by 3.

O.k let's use your method : Since I don't know my EXACT flywheel H.P #'s, we'll use my dragmaths figure of 267.81RWH.P needed to propel a 4152lb truck down the 1/4 mile in 14.52 seconds. So I took my 267.81RWH.P and divided it by 0.80......... Holy cow! I still come out with 334.76 flywheel H.P! WOW! So I guess your right! I don't make 340 flywheel H.P. I only make 334.76 flywheel H.P.LOL! I was off by 5.24H.P. So sue me!LOL! That's why the word "ESTIMATED" is in front of the #'s 340 in my SIG! geez!

sooper, nice camero, i have a firebird with similar mods, that runs similar times (without my no2). i noticed that you modified your throttle body and got 50 more rear well h.p and probably droped your e.t about a second. neal has dropped his e.t about a 1.5 seconds. i might not agree with 340 h.p. , but i think it is more than you think. (maybe 325 h.p.,just a guess).
coming on this board and jumping on the fastest n/a truck and and kind of belittling neal is not cool. would be like if you went to the track and all the modified ls1's running 11's made fun of your 12.4 tpi.

Cool

HI!... 1998NASTRUCK : So your truck dynoed out at 166RWH.P. Since we all know that the "98" 4.6 TRITON engine makes 220 flywheel H.P STOCK let's use SOOPERCREW's dynojet math on it. 166RWH.P divided by 0.80 = 207.5 flywheel H.P for a AUTO tranny. Now if your running a manual, that would be 166RWH.P divided by 0.85 = 195.3 flywheel H.P. WOW I would go talk to your dealer because your "SUPPOSED TO BE" 220H.P 4.6 from the factory is actually only 195 or 207H.P! Are you sure the truck was BONE STOCK when run on the dyno? Just curious. Have you dynoed it since you have done mods? You should of made about 176RWH.P on your truck if the engine was a true 220 flywheel H.P from the factory. But we know some engines come from the factory overated and some underated. It could be possible that you got a overated one. Mabey a MONDAY morning built engine. Good to see your #'s, and have a good day.

Talking

I KNEW he was a salesman! All talk talk talk talk talk talk talk. I can smell them a mile away. Soopercrew, let me give you alittle advice, stop making a fool out of yourself. You are pulling #'s from all over the place, you don't understand what you are talking about. If you did you would be able to figure the min. HP it would take to run a MPH on your calc. By the way, using your 4500 weight and 93mph it would require 250 HP in a PERFECT setup and launch. Science BABY! Did you read someting other than a comic book in school? Just joking my friend but in all reality if you want to go fast you need to learn some basics. Your Dyno's are cheap but effective TUNING tools that have turned into the newest kiddie toy. Simplicity is best. Why would you list that Camaro? A certain NON blown NON juiced plated 73 NOVA only does 10.9's at 125 for A H*** OF A LOT LESS but what does that got to do with anything? Your right! NOTHING! DON"T BE A SALESMAN!
