Chevy owners
I own a 99 F150 and a 2000 Silverado. I'm presently off from work with a knee injury for 4 months and I've been surfing the various truck sites. Because I own a Chevy am I suppose to be a nutty, arrogant, Ford bashing, talk now think later person. Because I also own a Ford, does that mean I am a traitor to Chevy? Do I have to rant and rave about the Horsepower advantage of the Vortecs, while covering up the torque advantage of the Tritons. Because I own a Chevy, do I have to sell my Ford and change my name to Bubba? Do I have to go to more family reuions to meet women? I need answers!
The answer is yes.
you have to do all of what you stated.
i own a ford & a dodge truck, and i have to do it too!

Hey guys, glad to see you are following the rules.
Be glad you don't own a Toyota, you would be required to frequent the gay bars....

Chevy owners are fanatical, at least the ones on the message board sites. The truth means nothing to the fanatics. My daddy had a Chevy, my uncle has a Chevy, Goober at the filling station has one, that's proof positive that Ford trucks stink. Here's my side by side evaluation of the two. The F150 steering and handling are slightly better than the Silverado. The Chevy's interior is more comfortable. The F150's dashboard and gauge arrangement is better. The Chevy and Ford's 4 wheel ABS are great, a tie. The Chevy rides softer. The Chevy accelerates slightly better and the Ford handles heavy trailers better. The Ford is quieter. That's my observations, and because I said these things Mr. Goodwrench has put out a contract on me. Believe me, if you mention Ford on a Chevy site you will be cussed and insulted. By the Way my F150 has never been in the shop for any warranty repairs, the Silverado had a minor door weatherstrip problem.

If you just had a Ford or if you needed 2 trucks have 2 Fords then you wouldn't have that problem. Psycho hows that knee coming along.

Physcho,
I agree with your analyses for the most part. I just don't take all this "Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge," etc. too seriously. If someone gave me a new Chevy I would certainly take it, drive it, use it if it pleased me and keep my F150 too.
If the "contract" boys get too close you stay with me anyday. I can match 'em with firepower.......

I did like the comment about the Toy's.
And speaking of firepower. We're gonna be mounting a browning .50 to the top of a Polaris Ranger whenever we get the gun back from the shop in Tenn. Can't wait to see what that puppy firing API can do. Doh, flashback, I must have thought I was on a gun site for a sec...

I agree that the new Chevy's are decent trucks, although I like Ford's styling and handling better. One of my friends has a 2000 with the 5.3 (285 hp). A lot of the fan's of Ford's 5.4 scoff at the high torque peak of the new 5.3 (4,000 rpm compared to the under 2,500 rpm torque peak for the Ford) but the truth is they are both excellent engines. I've known many people who have Fords at home and Chevy's at work (or vice/versa) and have come to like them both.
Hey, I've always been a Ford fan, and I never considered a Chevy when I was in the market for a new truck. My truck is well built and i've had no problems.
Good luck with the knee. Shattered my knee cap in a cycle crash and the surgeries & rehab were bitter!
