8.1L Avalanche
Just to let everyone hear save face. If you see a avalanche with 2500 on the side of it think twice before you run them! You will be able to get one with the 8.1L in it. And it will beat every ford truck except the lightning of course. See the post in supercrew forum.

Okay Neal every ford but yours ..... LOL What I meant was stock or just LIGHLY modded... While we didn't run them just the seat of the pants it felt alot faster... Kind of like a big block remember those things.

Gotta agree beast! They are ugly.
I had to laugh - my wife and mother in law saw one today and the first words out of their mouths was - that is one ugly truck! It looks like the same guy who did the aztek designed it!!

Even if they are faster.....
Just spray the guy driving with a super soaker gun. Heck, it has that thing that folds down... you know... that thing Chevy didn't think too long on, as it leaves not only the outside, but also the INSIDE of the truck exposed to the elements, all so you can have an 8'1" bed.

So--if we want a decent race,,we need to go find one of these ugly things and..
I talked to a 3500 owner with this big block and he tried to convince me that he got 14mpg..
And they say these things run good too....

Saw an interesting story on Trucks! on TNN this afternoon.
With a simple chip and performance exhaust they got the F-250 Diesel upto 375 HP. And who do you think is spending more time and money at the gas pump???

Maybe the 8.1 is faster. For hp it's got 340@4200 and torque 455@3200 compared to Fords 6.8 with 310@4250 and 425@3250. A diesel isn't an option on the Avalanche so Fords 7.3, 275@2600 and 520@2800 can't be used in the comparison.
The weights are similar between the two. The Avalanche 4x2 is 6353lbs, 4x4 is 6642. The F350 Crew cab 4x2 is 5973, 4x4 is 6718. I'm just thinking of the power to weight ratio.
I don't know about all of you but I don't really care how fast the Avalanche can go with the 8.1. Especially since I run the 4.6. If the 8.1 can't out run my 4.6 there is a problem. Any one driving one of thoes monstrosities needs to be able to go fast so they can escape embarrassing harassment.
Way to go Chevy, great engine. Now what is up with the butt ugly body designs?
If any of you get a chance to run with one of thoes "beauties", please let us know. Win or loose! It's alright to loose to one of thoes things, it may be faster but it's a far cry from a Ford!
