Had been hearing a bearing noise coming from the back for about a year. (truck has 207k miles mostly highway) Changed axle bearings thinking that was it, but not. Finally took it to a highly recommended rear end shop and they discovered that the carrier bearings were the culprits. $540 and all fixed up. Guy said it wouldn't have been long before the bearings would have failed and very likely grenading the gears. Money well spent!
